Summary of Application Experience
At this point, I\'m more likely to forget my SSN than my AAMC ID.
Summary of Experience:
Went back some time ago to check on my online status and it indicated that I missed the deadline....well, I definitely made the \"hard\" deadline, but the \"soft\" deadline was probably months prior...oops! Word of advice: NYU applicants, submit those secondaries super early!
Summary of Experience:
My \"first\" - invite, interview, and choice. Sadly, the fates have decided we were not meant to be. Was devastated about this rejection because I adored this school. The immense opportunities for research and international clinical experiences caught my eye, as well as the alternate pathway to an MD/PhD starting the second year. The students I met were beyond enthusiastic and I just loved the vibe of the school. My interview felt phenomenal, so this rejection broke my heart a bit. Adieu, Einstein, adieu...
Summary of Experience:
Yay for alma mater love! I was astonished to even get an invite here, honestly. Poring over those looong secondary essays totally paid off! Duke is a top-notch research institution, with ample opportunities to pursue any academic or service-oriented interest.
But, seriously there\'s no chance I can get in with my mcat...
Update April 2012: No surprise by rejection. MMI was a hard format to excel for me probably.
Summary of Experience:
My interview felt like it was cut shorter than it should have been...perhaps my interviewer was bored. Or was just very efficient. My impression of this school was not as positive as the ones I\'ve had at others. Probably just not the best fit for me...but may be for others.
Summary of Experience:
Perfect example of when to listen to your parents. Almost gave up on sending the secondary because I got around to it so late in the game. My mom convinced me to finish and send it in anyway. Hit the submit button on new year\'s eve (the deadline was Jan. 1st) and got an invite a few days later. Miracles can happen!
Summary of Experience:
My first acceptance! Hands down, the biggest highlight of this application cycle for me, probably because it literally came on the heels of a particularly stinging rejection. In hindsight, there were many factors that just felt \"right\" during my visit to Downstate in December. Without contest, NYC is my favorite city in the world. I like Brooklyn. The incredible clinical experiences described to me by fourth years have certainly convinced me that Downstate is a tremendous training ground for clinicians and medical scientists alike.
Summary of Experience:
This was my first interview that I attended after getting an acceptance, and boy did that make a difference. I felt much more confident and at ease with myself during the interview day. Let myself enjoy my short stay in Chicago, although you definitely need a car in the suburbs. Overall, I\'ve been having a blast getting around in major cities - the public transit system is easier to manage than expected and sort of fun to figure out (okay, I\'m from the suburbs!).
Summary of Experience:
The interview day was overall very pleasant. I was impressed by the amount of quality research being conducted at Wake, especially in the neurosciences which have been my focus for the past few years.
