Summary of Application Experience
Long process to get into medical school. I had a lot of things to overcome. I'm a non-traditional and my original BS was earned in 1997 and my GPA was quite mediocre at 2.7. I had an education career for Four years then quit my contract to pursue the medical school endeavor. Full time post bachelor at an excellent junior college, took 60 semester hours of pure sciences and Biology getting all A's and a couple B's. Took MCAT without mch prep and scored in the high teens, took a second time with study, still flaked out during the test and scored lower than expected with 22. I went ahead and started to apply anyhow with the 22MCAT but mid application process I was activated for our current war. This complicated everything in the process. Recieved interview and was able to attend just a week before we shipped out for overseas. I canceled all previously distributed apps due to no way to interview. Got waitlisted, then prepared to take MCAT again during my 2 week R&R during my deployemnt. However, it was not needed as I was notified two days after retaking the MCAT that I had been accepted off waitlist. Long process, and difficult but just nail every obstacle and move on until you are solid, and in a program.
