Summary of Application Experience
Welp! This was quite an amazing year, and it looks like I'll be going to Stony Brook University for medical school. :) Although I had my share of ups and downs this cycle, and I would have done a few things differently, I could not be happier with how this cycle has turned out. I still can't believe I received 3 consecutive acceptances in the same week in mid-October, it was nice to know I had places to go so early.
Choosing between UB, Stony Brook and Upstate was very difficult. I literally waited till May 15th to decide, and kept going back and forth on my decision as all three schools made a great impression. UB and Upstate had the best location. Both schools were close to my undergrad, and many of my good friends from undergrad were going to medical school there. Cost of living was much lower as well. I also love the scenery in upstate New York. However, in the end, Stony Brook appeared to be the better program, with more research opportunities, and it seemed be have a bit more recognition. I'm not a fan of being downstate, but at the end of the day I decided to go with the school that I felt was better. Location is an important factor, but I ultimately knew that I'd be spending most of my time in the school itself and not the surrounding area. Also, I saw it as a possible opportunity for a fresh start in a new place. Though I currently hope to go back upstate after med school.
I am however still incredibly excited! Stony Brook had an awesome program and school. Nearby Cold Spring Harbor and Brookhaven, a hospital that looks like something from the Jetsons, and a nice quiet location away from the city. The beaches nearby were a nice touch too haha. I am very grateful to Stony Brook for accepting me and I am looking forward to starting my path toward becoming a physician!
Summary of Experience:
My TOP TOP CHOICE. Hurricane Sandy made my drive there and back difficult. I got stuck in traffic and ended up being a half hour late or so. I also got sick and felt feverish during the interviews. Super nervous, I feel like i screwed up the interview day, so kind of bummed. But I did my best in the circumstances. Keeping faith that I'll end up where I am meant to be.
Summary of Experience:
Wow! Second interview and second acceptance. Very happy. Incredibly thankful to have two MD acceptances this early in the cycle. My family, and faith, and semesters of work have paid off.
Summary of Experience:
I\'m in disbelief..was one of my top choices going into the app cycle, and I LOVED this school on interview day. Could not be more thankful right now...3 acceptances in 3 days.
