Note: I used my AACOMAS GPA for listing purposes, since no MD school took me anyway.
Undergrad GPA: 2.98/2.61 (cGPA/sGPA) Postbac GPA (22 credits of upper div Biology): 3.91 Current AMCAS GPA: 3.14/3.11 AACOMAS: 3.34/3.46
Applied to all the MD schools in NY, and the major DO Schools: NYCOM PCOM LECOM AZCOM MSUCOM DMUCOM UMDNJ UNECOM
Won\\\'t focus on AMCAS because it\\\'d be a miracle if any school accepts me, though my reaches are Hofstra, TCMC, and Jefferson.
12/5/11 Accepted to St. George\'s for January, deferring to August semester while waiting to hear back from MD/DO schools. Complete for UMDNJ, PCOM, NYCOM, and MDs: Downstate, NYMC, Hofstra. Gave up on some schools I wasn\'t too serious about like MSUCOM (pain in the ass to resubmit LORs), or schools too far away like AZCOM. Interview scheduled for LECOM-E in Feb. Excited!
I haven\'t updated this thing in a while... so here\'s a quick summary of things that happened.
I was wait listed at NYCOM and LECOM for months back from April-ish. Got a call from BOTH LECOM and NYCOM that they were taking me on July 10, 2012. LECOM wanted a deposit by 10am the next day, and that personally left a bad taste in my mouth. I also got accepted for the Drexel IMS program that day... Anyway, I chose NYCOM of course, and having been here a month already I can say I love it here. Considering the class is over 300 people, they handle it very well and professionally... I have very few complaints about this place compared to my friends from LECOM, and any complaints are minor (like sometimes lecture halls are a little too cold).
Tips: Apply early, show persistence (write a LOR and show who you are as a person), if you got a low MCAT and you have time to do a Jan retake... seize the opportunity if the rest of your application is good. G\'luck guys.
Summary of Experience:
Invited for Feb interview. Accepted to Seton Hill PBL but rejected from Erie campus. Withdrew (got the call they were taking me the morning I got into NYCOM!)
Summary of Experience:
Wait listed for months, got in a month before classes started. So grateful they took me, I love it here. Don\'t give up guys, I can get into NYCOM with a 2.98/2.6sci and 29 MCAT w/ a late application... you can too! Be persistent and show them you want the spot.
