Brief Profile:
AMCAS & AACOMAS submitted on 7/2/2011.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I thought instead of always being a lurker on here this cycle, I would actually get a profile. Seems like a really nice method for documenting my whole med school application experience =).
7/7/11: I re-took the MCAT yesterday...but I was too wishy washy and voided it. I didn\'t get 2 passages on the verbal...but knew I did well on the PS, just not much of a gambler and knew that if I did improve, it would have been by 1 pt. BUT OH WELL. it\'s in the past. Let\'s hope I get into med school this cycle and never have to feel MCAT remorse again! =)!!
ECs: I think I had meaningful ECs, about 14. Includes: Research in 3 areas, volunteer and internship at hospital, clubs communities service, etc.
Awards: Phi Beta Kappa, Latin Honors

Summary of Application Experience
7/2/2011: AMCAS and AACOMAS submitted with all materials already received...waiting for verification.
7/5/2011: GW secondary in email... automatic.. but still makes me happy. =)
7/72011: wallowing in \"what if I sent that MCAT to be scored\". Need to do some yoga to get my mind of it!! gave my LOR writers a 7/17 deadline...so pretty much just trying to stay busy during the waiting process. I know the AMCAS and AACOMAS will take at least 2-3 weeks for verification this time in the cycle. \"PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE\" =)
7/10/2011: been exercising like crazy... yay endorphins. physical pain > emotional pain. ^____^ b I found out a couple of days ago that my personal statement has a verb tense error. -_____- I knew it sounded wrong, (in fact, I had it correct before I changed it bcus of MS Word\'s green line) ..why didn\'t I do more grammar research when I was mulling over it before I submitted?? I really hope it doesn\'t break my application...
7/23/2011: still missing some LORs -___-, but that\'s not a problem since I still haven\'t been verified yet! pls by the end of next week!
7/28/2011: found out my letter from the professor I TA\'ed for doesn\'t count as a letter from a \"science professor who has taught you in a course credits towards your science GPA\" ... =( BOO... but it may be a blessing a disguise because I\'ve ask an old professor of mine for a LOR and he said yes!!! He is a distinguished faculty member! :0)
7/29/2011: AMCAS & AACOMAS email congratulating me on VERIFICATION!! I personally think the AMCAS and AACOMAS customer service and system is very prompt and friendly when answering all my concerns. :0) Let the Secondary journey begin!!! (I\'ve have a stack of 5 secondaries pre-verification that I haven\'t touched...will power hour it this weekend.) I\'m excited, nervous, and currently optimistic. another smiley needed....=0)
8/1/2011: I applied to more schools than listed, will update more after finishing a few secondaries. I wish schools would screen more when offering people secondaries...I can\'t help but think that they just want our $$$$$$$$$. =P
8/7/2011: submitted 5 Secondaries so far, still waiting for LOR from doc. promise to finish all received secondaries by 8/23!!!! (Still waiting for secondaries from 9 schools)..
8/11/2011: FINALLY all letters in AMCAS. promise to finish 5 more 2*s today. =)
8/16/2011: apps with issues...whether it be need LOR, pre-req, long essay Qs, technical difficulties with processing.. - Albany Medical College - Georgetown - Rush Medical College - Creighton University School of Medicine - Temple University School of Medicine - Howard University - Jefferson Medical Coll. -SUNY UP - University of Louisville
8/27/2011: I\'m not a complete slacker, I\'ve been keeping everything on Excel SR, SS, SC etc =P So I will update my profile --fully-- probably next weekend. =)
9/10/2011: Have been slacking on some secondaries...Still want to finish 8 more (they all revolve around the same question) so once I get on a roll...should..\"should\" be easy =P Feels like it is getting super late though. But I am so surprised by the turn around time for DO schools. I submit my secondary, it is complete the next day, and the next day I get an invite. I wish MD schools would speed up...I think I would feel better getting some responses from them...even a rejection...just so I know they know I exist =P
Finally updated my profile...=)
GOT INVITES YAY!! It has been an emotional rollercoaster.. confident one day, depressed the next. Impulsively added 5 more DO schools...=( but realizing that I should have applied smarter...THIS IS GETTING SO EXPENSIVE!!!
TOTAL COSTS to date: $3,407 (not counting any plane tickets yet)
9/15: feeling down about the no MD invites yet...but I guess it\'s better than rejection? I plan to be done with secondaries tomorrow (9/16). Then go to some interviews Oct-early Nov, and if I\'m not feeling good, then I\'ll do a few more DO secondaries that I\'ve been sitting on =).
9/22: I think I am not doing myself any favors checking out other ppl\'s profiles to see when they submitted/completed/invited.. just giving myself a heart attack =P finally done with secondaries.. YAAAAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO! think I am going to just lay low for a while.=)
10/30: I\'m very happy to know that I got into medical school =D. But, I\'m still bummed that I\'m on HOLD at 4 MD schools...reading about the chances of getting an interview after being placed on HOLD kills me a little inside...But trying to stay hopeful, because HOLD does feel better than \"We regret to inform you.....\" =)
11/17: to be honest, i think my DO essays were way stronger than my MD essays, and I think my passion shows more easily through osteopathic medicine...it must be a sign. I was sad about being rejected by Davis, but I think everything happens for a reason...or at least...there is a positive out of every situation. =0)
Now, to decide where to go out of my 3 DO choices, and will probably end up withdrawing from Nova and AZCOM.
1/3: WU receives deposit :)
2/25/2012: I\'m on hold or re-review at about every MD school left...my hope had basically hit rock bottom for an MD interview invite let alone acceptance at this point in the game..=( But then upon further reflection, I absolutely love Southern California and I think Western is a great match for me. =D
3/29/2012: Rejected from most schools, still haven\'t heard back from Toledo, RFU, JMC, GWU, PSU, RMC, LUC, and MCW after being but on re-review/HOLD.
Summary of Experience:
Started to work on this secondary...but read that for being one of the most competitive osteopathic schools..it has one of the lowest COMLEX pass rates! Dont think I like the bay area either...
Summary of Experience:
This application made my head hurt, and I realized it wasn\'t worth it. My motto has been if a school gives me this much of a headache before I even attend it..it will probably drive me even more nuts if i\'m a student there...=)
Summary of Experience:
They require many LORs....I couldn\'t provide them with all the required one so I wrote down explaining why. My PI taught there...so hopefully that will count for something =)
Summary of Experience:
got a beautiful letter and brochure from this school. I love schools that still send stuff by snail mail. It\'s like they care ! =P
Summary of Experience:
9/22: put on pre-interview HOLD. I guess this is better than getting rejected. fingers crossed for an upstate NY trip!! I think I will wait a month and send in a letter of interest and supplemental app update.
Took long enough for me to finish this secondary. I personally don\'t like secondaries that ask \"is there anything else that you\'d like to include in your application that\'s not included elsewhere\"...
Fingers crossed though! Would LOVE to go to school in Boston...Go Celtics!! <3
9/10: FIRST REJECTION, BOO. =( Would love a chance to go to the East Coast for school too... but didn\'t have an exceptional feeling about my secondary for BU.
Summary of Experience:
Got an invite before I turned in my secondary...=) What a boost of self esteem.. FIRST INVITE!! =P
omg, this school is so awesome, the simulation labs are amazing and the staff/faculty!! everything was great, except for the fact that it is in IOWA...
