Brief Profile:
After a weak performance for a few years in undergrad I realized I loved research and medicine. In my application I focus on my hope to become a physician who is also a part of the development of medical products, like many of those I shadowed
GPA trend 2.9, 3.1, 3.1, 3.4 (last semester 3.7)
Research - 2 years undergrad (summer in neuroscience, 1.5 years and continuing at University of Missouri in biophotonics), 1 first author, 1 second author, 2 national conference presentations. During the course of the application process I acquired a second first authored publication.
Youth tutor and mentor - underserved locations in Los Angeles, founded an all girls group at my church, during the course of the application process I began tutoring at Sylvan, as well as volunteering at a shelter for children from abusive families.
Rec letters - 3 research, 1 doctor, 2 teachers (all know well and personally)
I wasn\'t going to make an MD apps profile but decided to because while looking through I did not see too many people with stats similar to mine, but when I was applying it would have been really helpful for me to see where those of us with low GPA and decent MCAT students applied to!
I hope this helps someone choose wisely because it is expensive!
