Great School! I love how new everything is and how the school was established to cater to an underserved populations. El Paso seems like home to me and I would be very comfortable living there. Their step score average was a 225 which isnt too bad for their first go at it. I did not get to hear much clinical years because the 3rd years just started on their rotations (the curse of being really early in the cycle). Both my interviewers were nice and assured me I would get in somewhere. I hope that somewhere is Texas Tech El Paso.
University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)
Beautiful island with numerous tracks to fit any of your desires. A very close knit group with individuals with high step scores (average was a 234). The students are more serious about getting in top residency than the students at El Paso it seems, which I like. I would love to attend this school.
University of Texas at San Antonio
AMAZING LOCATION! I mean I can easily see myself raising a family there. Such a relaxing atmosphere I know would lend for me to kill all the classes. The students seem compassionate and intelligent. They are entering a plethora of different specialities and the kids seem to match well. In addition, the clinical years seem to be legit very hands on especially in the valley. I do not think the same could be said about UTMB or even El Paso. I love the school and would have no problem matriculating if they would just accept me.
University of Texas at Southwestern
I had a great time here. I had a family member who went to this school and did not speak well about it. So I cannot say I did not come without misgivings. The people at the school seem happy and well-adjusted. The students spoke very highly of their school. However, I realized that the school main draw and push is the name. Seeing that I have been accepted to Mayo and Baylor there has to be something more potent in the schools appeal, at least for me. Even, if I had not garnered those acceptances I would still want the school to impress more than just ranking and prestige on me. The student rec center is amazing and working out there would be legit. They seem very very behind in the times in terms of curriculum and equipment for a school that has so much money it seems like the students are the LAST to get it. The clinical day was interesting and the food was plentiful and good. So much better than Baylor. They put on the best show but it seems once enrolled that show is over. Great interview day for applicants, not so good learning experience for students.
Baylor- I had an amazing host , amazing interviews and an amazing time. This is my top choice. Anybody who chooses UTSW over this school. I feel like is sightly chasing prestige, because with a 1.5 curriculum this school cannot be beat. At least not by any school in Texas
Mayo- The renowned Mayo Clinic pretty much lived up to its reputation. It is an amazing place to learn medicine and be a superior clinician. The small class size, the plethora of opportunities and the support makes it the place to be a student. The location is the killer. I felt very isolated and lonely there. The cold is rough however coupled with the lack of diversity it gives me misgivings. I wish I had an opportunity to sit in on a class so I can see if the teaching is really as amazing as touted by the school. Maybe I will be able to at second look? The school is pretty much my 1st/2nd choice it is really dependent on how second look goes. If I feel the same as I did at my interview day it will make this school are hard sell.
UPenn- The host I stayed made my stay here unbearable, schools should really screen the hosts. The campus was amazing and the curriculum was exactly what I was looking for in a school. However, the grading scheme is a no-go. However, the students seem really laid back similar to students at Baylor. One interviewers did not read my application which I did NOT like. I am very limited on funds and if I am going to blow $500 on an interview I would at least want somebody to at least skim my application. My student interview was cool, but at the point I was pretty much set on going to Mayo or Baylor and UPenn had no appeal to me especially in light of the fin aid talk. Without a full-ride I would most certainly not matriculate.
University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine- A great school and with a full ride I cannot help but keep this in the back of my mind. Again, my host was horrible and ruin the perception of the school. Again, schools should screen heavily for good student hosts, like have a training or some sort. The school curriculum is a little out dated and there is tooo much class time. I would surely flounder in such a curriculum. The support there is unmatched! They match pretty well too.
Columbia P&S- Again, I stayed with a horrible host (a friend) ruined my experience here. I felt very out of place so much money in the room. Maybe, one day my kids will fit in with them at the moment I do not.
Harvard- A great school with a lot of diversity and Boston is amazing. Lets see if I get in. That will make things very interesting.

Summary of Application Experience
I am making this more for myself than anyone else.
Summary of Experience:
Gave me an interview date that conflicted with my Mayo interview. I asked for another interview date, that interview date conflicted with my Baylor interview.
Now the admission committee is \"reconsidering\" my application. Damn, nothing I can do about that. Both my Baylor and Mayo interview have been booked for weeks and month respectively.
