Brief Profile:
-Biomedical Engineering Major ~100 hours as an emergency department volunteer ~50 hours as an Orthotics department volunteer ~50 hours volunteering at a local primary care clinic ~40 hours of clinical shadowing -Spent one month doing an global health volunteer program in Ecuador -Spent 2 years as the financial coordinator (ie treasurer) for my undergraduate student cultural organization ~1.5 years as an undergraduate assistant in a biomedical engineering lab. Made a presentation at an undergraduate research conference. -Completed a capstone biomedical engineering design project for my major. We designed, fabricated, and tested an implantable medical device and presented our results to the clinical translational sciences center. -participated in a university honors program, member of tau beta pi (engineering honors society), and EMT certified.
My undergraduate grades weren\'t that great (i blame the rigorous engineering curriculum in addition to premed), but b/c of my solid mcat scores, I opted to do a special master\'s program. I got a 3.7 in the master\'s program, and I am now doing lab research for my thesis.
I applied really broadly, including a bunch of top tier schools as well as low tier schools, and lots in the middle. We\'ll see how this goes...

It was an extremely painful process, but im very pleased with how things worked out. In the end my only acceptance was at one of my first choice programs: one that I didnt think I stood a chance at, and one of the last schools I expected to take me.
wow, it has been quite an emotional roller coaster ride! CASE MED CLASS OF 2016 WOOOO!

Submitted: 07/07/2011
Secondary Completed: No
Interview Invite: No
Interview Attended: No
Waitlisted: No
Accepted: No
Rejected: 08/29/2011
Summary of Experience:
first rejection!! didnt really hurt that much, but I was hoping I\'d get an interview invite BEFORE my first rejection, just to keep the morale up. No secondary. They decide whether to interview from the primary app.
Summary of Experience:
Rejected by mail. Probably one of the nicest rejections I\'ve ever read. \"this decision does not reflect upon your qualifications to study medicine successfully\"
Summary of Experience:
I had a terrible experience with their admissions office. Before sending me a secondary, they requested an email from my research PI confirming that I\'ll finish my masters by July 1. My PI sent them the email and confirmed that they received it. I contacted Wake again the next day just to make sure, and they said they got it on record.
One month went by without any word from them, so I contacted them to see what\'s the hold-up, and they told me they\'re still waiting for the email from my PI. When I told them I\'d already had her send it, they insisted that they never got it and that I must have somehow screwed up. I had my PI resend them everything (including their written acknowledgement of the email). 3 weeks later, I finally got the secondary, about 2 months later than I should have.
I don\'t understand how they\'re running things over there.
Summary of Experience:
Not counting on this one at all, but it\'s so close to home, i had to try. 1/31: finally received the rejection letter. I dont understand why they insist on doing these things by snail mail.
Summary of Experience:
these people are so nice! they took the time to sit on the phone with me and go over my application and give good feedback on what I could improve. They were extremely respectful and kind, and I have developed a huge respect for this school. o btw, they pointed out that I was rejected mainly because of state residency.
Summary of Experience:
no email or any sort of notification of being rejected. They just let applicants eventually figure out that NYU is done interviewing, and that they have not been invited for an interview.
Summary of Experience:
I\'m pretty sure this school doesnt read the secondary responses. I forgot to fill in the last couple pages of the secondary application, and didnt notice until i submitted. 3 weeks later (to my surprise), they offered me an interview. classy.
Pretty good program, but the mammoth-scale OOS tuition is, frankly, unjustified. 75k a year? Please..... Going to get in touch with their financial aid office to make sure I understand whether they really expect students to pay upwards of 400k to attend their medical school. If so, then I\'m withdrawing. 1/13 Just withdrew today b/c of the tuition. Wish I had paid more attentiont to the OOS vs in-state tuition before even applying. o well.
Summary of Experience:
I emailed Cinci to let them know i\'ll be \"in the area\" for my OSU interview. Two days later, they replied with an interview invitation!
Summary of Experience:
i love tufts. ive always liked what ive seen of the program from my experience with my masters, but the interview day impressed me even further.
Summary of Experience:
THIS SCHOOL IS AMAZING!! from the well-executed PBL to the designated research block, case\'s curriculum has everything i\'d want in a med school. Additionally, the students were amazing. Everyone I met was brilliant without being full of themselves, and I felt like I fit in with the students here way more than with students at any other med school. An acceptance here would be a dream come true. placed on hold post-interview.
