Summary of Application Experience
First time applicant with an interesting story. If I could give any advice to future applicants, it would be to have a purpose. Know why you want to go into medicine, what you want to do with medicine, and precisely how. Passion, commitment, and hard work will land you a spot in medical school.
This application cycle is probably one of the most nerve-wracking processes I have ever been through. Tons of rejection and an immeasurable amount of gratification. I have to admit, I've been very lucky throughout this cycle to have been offered so many interviews, more than I could even afford to attend. I applied to 30+ schools, and with all of the primary and secondary application fees + interview expenses, I am certain I spent over $5,000. Even for those on a tight budget (like I was), I would advise putting any additional expenses on credit cards or even taking out a small loan. Applying to as many schools as possible will obviously give you the greatest chances of acceptances. To me personally, spending $5,000 is well worth an acceptance to medical school. If you think about it, if you don't get in the first cycle (when perhaps you could have gotten in if you applied to more schools), you are missing out on a years' worth of a physician's salary.
At the very beginning of the application cycle, everything seems so uncertain. You begin to doubt that you will be offered an interview spot, much less an acceptance. Believe in yourself and know that you are capable of being a fantastic physician. Your confidence will radiate in your interviews. Above all else, be yourself! Don't be afraid to talk about subjects other than medicine in your interviews!
Starting the medical school journey in Fall is a dream come true. Acceptances may come as early as October to all the way in late July/early August. Patience is key, and if you really want to attend a certain school, let them know! If your dream is put on hold for another year, do not give up. What you should do is come back even stronger and do everything in your power to improve your application for next cycle. DON'T EVER GIVE UP OR SETTLE IF THIS IS YOUR DREAM!
Peace and Love
Good luck to all.

Summary of Experience:
Invited to the Diversity Interview day...the free hotel is very tempting! But realistically, I can't see myself going here over schools that I've already been accepted to, mainly for financial reasons (I'd be OOS) and geographical reasons.
Summary of Experience:
Really don't have the money to fly to Ohio at this point in the application cycle. Don't want to take someone's interview spot either!
Summary of Experience:
The more I think about it, the more I realize OOS schools are not for me. I want to be where I'm happy, and I don't how I would fare in cold weather this extreme.
Summary of Experience:
Wow. The UPMC facilities are incredible. More NIH funding = more opportunities at this school. They really want you to find your niche within medicine and thrive. It's going to be a longggg wait 'till Jan 31!
Waitlisted on 2nd tier of WL...oh well...I've been accepted to so many other INCREDIBLE schools!
Summary of Experience:
LOVE LOVE LOVE this school! I am in love with this medical school's vision and the dedication to helping students find their calling within medicine.
Summary of Experience:
Really had a good experience at USF. My interview day was actually a lot more impressive than some of the "higher ranked" schools I went to. Loved the interactive session with the 3rd year medical student, definitely a major highlight. Very happy to have USF as one of my options, and it's one that I am definitely considering :)
Summary of Experience:
So thrilled to be accepted here. There is something about the environment at UF that is so warm and friendly. Although Gainesville is not my idea of a good time, I think I could be veryyyyy happy here.
