Summary of Application Experience
From my application experience I learned 1) Medical schools are almost always willing to be flexible about when you come to interview. I saved A LOT of money by putting interviews together 2) In the interview, it\'s not how well you answer questions but how well you present yourself that matters--don\'t try to present yourself as something you\'re not. Believe it or not, med schools want to recruit students who are unique and who are not afraid to show their true selves 3) Be willing and prepared to totally change your plans. I was planning on going to Baylor from November-June when I unexpectedly got a call from Pritzker 4) The big thing to look for on your interview day is the type of people you\'ll interact with at the school. Remember, on your interview day, you are also interviewing them. Don\'t be so nervous that you forget this!
Summary of Experience:
I appreciated how this school emailed me in February inviting me to interview \"if I had not yet made plans to attend med school elsewhere.\" They recognized that they were my back-up school. Not having to make another trip out to N.C. saved me a few hundred dollars.
Summary of Experience:
This school has the most transparent admissions process of any to which I applied. Very cool and genuinely happy students. It\'s a bit harder to get matriculated from out of state than I thought it would be, and I ended up on the waitlist...most likely pending rejection.
Summary of Experience:
This was my first interview. It\'s likely that my interviewers were able to tell, lol. This school is unique in that it is not in the middle of a huge city. I didn\'t realize that this was a unique feature because it was my first interview. Charlottesville is a very classy town which can be very attractive to some people, not so much to me. I didn\'t bother to keep my application active after they waitlisted me in October because I had already been accepted other places.
Summary of Experience:
Pritzker had some of the most phenomenal students and incredible faculty that I\'ve ever met. This school also wins the prize for being the most professional and for running the smoothest interview day. Can\'t wait to start classes Aug 4th!
Summary of Experience:
I didn\'t like how this school tried to sell itself based on new hospitals which would be built 10 years down the road. Admissions people were very kind, but I felt out of place here.
Summary of Experience:
I interviewed here the day after I interviewed at Baylor, and there was quite the contrast! My tour guide shared with the rest of us that he \"wished he had gone to Baylor.\" Others students expressed similar sentiments. The students I met were tired, worn-out, and seemed very stressed. Maybe the students just didn\'t represent their school very well on my interview day, but I was disappointed in the \"feel\" of this place. It\'s family friendly and tuition is low. Even if you\'re from out of state like I was, they tend to put get financial aid packages together for you.
Summary of Experience:
LOVED the students here. Very family friendly school and very hard to withdraw from. The only thing I didn\'t like about Baylor was how disorganized the admissions committee seemed to be. Really great people, but disorganized. Never got a revised financial aid package after asking for it repeatedly, never had an operating applicant portal, randomly got an email asking me why I had withdrawn my acceptance right after I had accepted a place, etc.
