Brief Profile:
Music major, devoted much of my time as an undergrad to classical music and theater Worked in a biomedical lab for 1.5 years after college, and on a bioinformatics project for ~1 year Volunteered in a children\'s hospital and a level I ER weekly for over a year Took post-bacc courses and then completed a master\'s degree at UC (one of those \"special\" masters programs where you take classes side-by-side with first year med students. I did okay, but by no means great. Had about a 3.1 GPA) My GPA kept me on the waitlist the past three years (in 2008 I was waitlisted at Penn State, in 2009 at UC, and in 2010 at UC and OSU), but I finally made the cut this time around. I assume taking my MCAT from a 33 to a 39 helped a lot. There\'s also something to be said for stubborn persistence.

Summary of Application Experience
Look at my GPA; if I can do it, so can you.
I do have all my other bases covered - research experience, volunteer experience, well-written essays, high MCAT, and a semi-acceptable reason for the low GPA - I was doing lots of interesting artsy things as an undergrad and didn\'t consider med school until later... nevertheless, don\'t let anyone tell you that you won\'t get in because your GPA is horrible. That\'s what I was told for years and I proved all the naysayers wrong! Good luck!

Summary of Experience:
never received secondary invite
Summary of Experience:
Invited me for an interview with less than a week\'s notice, and added that I\'d just be interviewing for a spot on the waitlist, so I declined. I had a pretty negative experience with UC\'s SMP and I\'d just as soon go elsewhere.
Summary of Experience:
Extremely positive admissions experience. Applicants know whether they\'ve been accepted within a week of their interviews and receive a personal call. I had a very caring interviewer, too. OSU admissions just really have their act together.
