Brief Profile:
Graduated in 5 and 1/2 years with a BS in electrical engineering and physiology. 2 years of engineering research, 1 year of neuroscience research. Engineering internship experience at GE Healthcare and GM. Then of course the usual premed stuff.
I applied to all MSTP except for a few schools.
I was extremely surprised and happy with how this whole experience went. I made this profile to show that you do not need a really high MCAT score to be successful. I do think it was the reason for my rejection as some institutions but it wasn\'t worth taking again.
I had an interesting personal statement since I decided to pursue medicine fairly late in college (end of year 3 of 5.5). I also had a strong upward trend in grades.
Summary of activities: Research: Engineering Lab (December 2008 to Present) -Developed an automatic 3D image reconstruction program for thermal therapy treatment planning. One abstract presented by my PI. (Independent Project) -Mathematical modeling of ultrasound wave propagation in media exhibiting power-law loss. One abstract submitted at time of application at an International Conference. (Independent Project) -Extremely strong letter of recommendation
Neuroscience Research (December 2009 to Present) -Measuring mitochondrial transport in drosophila in vivo using photo activatable protein kaede. -Extremely strong letter of recommentation
Very involved with AED: Pre-prof honor society -2 years leadership, public relations, vice president -Organized 2 alternative spring break trips to the Dominican Republic. 22 students 1 physician one year and 24 students and 3 physicians the next

Summary of Experience:
Silent Rejection...I thought this was the most puzzling result of the process. I thought I would be a good fit here
Summary of Experience:
Originally invited to interview 10/5 but there the biomedical engineering faculty I wanted to meet were at a conference so they rescheduled me.
Really enjoyed it here! For sure one of my top choices!
