Time will tell if I get even a single interview. I\'m at a crossroads where if I don\'t get in this time I\'m done with medicine and will get a research job. But I guess time will tell.
So just wanted to explain some things. My GPA listed above is not my graduate GPA. That\'s the collapsed grad GPA and ugrad GPA combined. Myugrad GPA is 2.51 BCPM and 2.59 overall. Sad I know. This is why I don\'t know if I\'ll get into med school anywhere. My graduate GPA however is 3.80 from USF college of Medicine Molecular Medicine BCPM and Overall, and 3.45 currently from BUSM MA in Medical Sciences (SMP at BUSM). it will be most likely 3.58 after thesis is in.
Overall graduate GPA is 3.65, therefore, with both overall and BCPM.
My MCAT listed is my last MCAT taken. I\'ve also gotten a 12 BS, 7 VR, 10PS, Q writing before. So for schools that look at composites I\'ve gotten a 31S.
BU rejection kinda stung because I was an SMP student there but at least I know there were others from my program with high scores in the program and higher MCAT scores that got rejected.
VCU I was expecting but my friend convinced me it was cuz my MCAT was late last time. So i figured i\'d see what would happen. Shoulda realied my initial instinct was right. Wake Forest, i think if I\'d gotten a higher MCAT score might have stood a shot at. Sadly it didn\'t increase despite higher averages on practice scores. so got rejected pre secondary.
EVMS. Last time I didn\'t get past the screening for the secondary. This time I got the secondary and considered for quite a while. so i guess that was some progress.
FIU rejection also stung. All other Fl. schools look at grad GPA separately and are more forgiving if you do well in grad or postbac. FIU collapses the grad onto ugrad and ifyou are still below 3.0 you get automatic rejection through withdrawing your app. Oh well. What can I do.
GW not as surprising considering they get 15k applicants. But figured I\'d give it a shot.
MCW; they favor in staters anyway and I have not so great stats so not surprised after my friends got rejected. One of the reasons I applied here was aunt and uncle live in milwaukee. But they are probably moving to Florida within the next year due to aunt\'s new job. so this is no longer a big deal to be here. Once the friends got rejected I knew mine would be next.
Loyola; this one kinda stung too because they didn\'t even send a rejection letter. They just sorta changed my status. Last time I was very late with this school so at least made it til end april and got an official PDF rejection.
RFU rejection was expected based on friends who were rejected from such. Tulane was also rejection for myself and others in my program with not that much higher stats. So not shocked by that one.
SUNY Upstate put me on pre interview hold. I fear this will be rejection by next month around this time if history repeats itself. The interview hold already came at the same time as the previous app cycle I applied in even though I was complete a month earlier then last time.
Well looks like fear turned into reality. Rejected today 12/14/10 from SUNY Upstate. not too shocked. But to be fair the NYers deserve to get seats in the NY state schools more then me. I hope it works out.
Toledo, USF, UIC, Wayne State, and FSU were all complete only around late October and the very first week of Nov. so these 5 schools will not hear from a while.
The other remaining 15 been complete since August to early september with app and mid september on the whole since that\'s when new MCAT score came in.
Should also mention that I interviewed yesterday 12/13 at UCF. will update this after the cycle is over. Don\'t want to go into too many details.

Of my remaining schools 5 don\'t take updates (Albany, MSU, USF, UF, and Rush). I have yet to finish the update to Drexel and temple. Not sure if Drexel takes pre interview updates though. Updated Umiami, FSU, SUNY Downstate, NYMC, Creighton (though I think this will be a rejection at the end of this week if I don\'t get an interview), SLU, Tufts, and Wayne State
I\'m not sure why I\'ve not heard from some of these schools. Seeing my stats most would think I\'d be rejected by now esp. as I\'m not URM. Not that I\'m white as I\'ve indicated above either. Just did that for anonymity. But I\'ll change that info at the end of the cycle to its more accurate info.
I expected to be rejected from SLU, downstate, albany, and MSU by now. But who knows what the story is. Maybe one of them will give me a good surprise.
Rejected from all 4 of the above in my previous line. Finally rejected from downstate today. So NY is officially out. LOL.
I do however feel that downstate considered me a lot longer this time compared to last time when I was rejected like right away. so perhaps the combination of my update letters, my SMP, adn other factors helped to some degree because Downstate is a school that normally rejects as soon as possible rather then later. Albany was just late in reviewing my app as was the case with MSU. I think NYMC was like Downstate considering my other stuff and update letters.
UF also rejected me recently but that was expected as they are the toughest of florida schools.
So I was rejected from FAU about a few weeks ago. They are at the end of their interview cycle today actually from my understanding. Have enough on the waitlist to require no more interviews. Despite late app cycle they got a good amount of students who applied to them both in state and out of state. Am proud of SDNers and others who I know personally that made it there. It was always a long shot.
Well its now 5/26/11 and I\'m still on two waitlists as we speak. I will give it two more months and if I don\'t get in I\'ll reapply and try to get a job.
I did send a letter of intent to one school though and combined it into a letter of update and intent. So maybe that will help. I guess 2 months down the road I\'ll know my faith.
