Summary of Application Experience
My application process kind of reads like a dream... I suppose it was some combination of good luck and a good application. I worked with other students who were applying at the same time and we critiqued each others' applications to make the best possible presentation.
I had six letters of recommendation (to some schools, I sent only five): 1. basic science prof 2. basic science prof 3. clinical research prof 4. social science prof 5. community clinic 6. peer education coordinator
My interviews were low-stress, low-pressure. I sent a thank you note to my interviewers after each interview, and in one case sent a thank you note to an administrative assistant who was particularly helpful.
To make my final decision, I attended the second look weekends of my top three choices and chose the one that seemed to fit me best. I have no regrets about my decision, and am about to graduate after matching at my top choice for residency.
