Summary of Application Experience
I didn't take the MCAT until August, so I had a bit of a late start on the whole application process. Several people told me that it was a bad idea to apply and I would have little chance of getting in if I waited until August to take the MCAT, but I'm still glad I waited. I think my MCAT score was a lot higher than it would have been had I taken it in April. I suppose it's possible I could have gotten into a more competitive school had I waited for fall 2005, but I'm pretty excited and happy to be going to UC Davis. also, interesting note: I've heard that OHSU won't accept people who are considered 'too qualified' (there's a story going around about somebody who got into Harvard but not OHSU, called to ask why, and this is what they were told.) Several of my college classmates with much lower grades and scores than me were accepted while I didn't even make the waiting list.
