Summary of Application Experience
12/2 ACCEPTED!! I\'M GOING TO BE A DOCTOR! ^_^ JOY JOY JOY
12/29 Sent update letters to all the schools that I thought would accept them (so basically everyone except Albany). Sent a post-interview update to U of MN. Was thinking about saving it in case I was waitlisted, but who knows maybe a little bump will get me accepted right away ;0) I am sure in the next few months I will have other updates that I could send in (i.e. pass certification exam). I don\'t know if any of the letters will help convince the schools to give me an interview, but I figured it could not hurt, and remind them of my file. I also moved all of my previous updates to the \"blog\" section.
1/5 Started my new job yesterday! Yay for having a paycheck again! I am now a clinical laboratory scientist at the University hospital in the Acute Care Lab. I will work full-time (4 ten hour shifts), the first three hours drawing blood (venipuncture and line draws) and then in clinical chemistry (for the most part) running CBasics, troponins, HCGs, etc. I will also rotate through urinalysis, coag, and hopefully hematology. So basically I will be amassing massive amounts of paid clinical hours while performing testing that I will one day be ordering ^_^
1/24/2010 ACCEPTED TO U OF M!! YAY! This is the one school I applied to multiple times, so glad this finally worked out....And so glad we can finally start planning for next year. Now I don\'t have to worry about my husband having to live in a different state to find a job. Super relief, amazingly happy right now.
2/14/10 Happy Valentine\'s Day! We were preapproved for a mortgage this week, so I will definitely be attending U of M this fall. We are going to find a realtor this week and hopefully get cracking on house-hunting by the end of the month ^_^ It is amazing after all this time to be accepted to the one school I had wanted to attend for a number of years, especially after bracing myself for being passed over again. We get to stay near friends and family, so I will have a great support system. I am really happy and excited to plan for the next four years.
4/9/10 We close on our house today! Painting this weekend and moving in on Sunday. Picking up our new puppy next Thursday ^_^ On the school front, revisit day is coming up and I am going to meet future classmates and see my college roommate who now lives in WI. Waiting to hear back about financial aid, from different sources I have heard that nothing will be decided/awarded until end of April or later.
4/29 All moved in & getting settled in the house with the new puppy. Love it all! Called the U\'s financial aid office to get an estimate since the final numbers won\'t be out until June. Happy surprise--I am getting a $7500 scholarship for fall/spring semester!! YAY! I am sure it is need-based but that is still amazing, since tuition appears to be set ~$22000 for fall/spring. I haven\'t gotten all the numbers but I am happy just finding out that part of it.
Summary of Experience:
First time I hear from them since AUGUST and of course it is a rejection....oh well, definitely would NOT move to Omaha over Mpls
