I know my stats are below average and you might think that I have it easier because of my URM status, but I\'d like to stress that there are other factors in my application you should consider. I grew up in an inner-city, and had to attend magnet schools through out New York from ages 10-17 (most people don\'t have a 2-hour round trip commute to middle school or high school). I also worked 2 jobs throughout college in addition to commuting from home (family couldn\'t afford for me to stay on campus and I had to take care of younger siblings). I struggled with university my first three semesters. It wasn\'t until my junior year that my GPA was consistently above a 3.7.
I also have diverse experience in research and very early exposure to medicine. My MCAT score may be lacking in the biological sciences (which was a surprise to me as well), but I think my grades in biochem and molecular bio helped me out some. I don\'t think my writing sample score is representative of my writing ability. I was also meticulous about who I got my letters of recommendation from.
All in all, I think I did the best job that I could. I am very pleased with the interviews I\'ve been getting and am confident they are well-deserved.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any commentary or questions.

SR: 8/25, W: 9/25 Had to pay the application fee before getting access to secondary app essay prompts. That\'s shady. No thanks.
Secondary took forever! Looks like people who submitted in late September are already getting interviews, so I\'m going to say UCLA is not interested. Sad sad.
Really laid back interview, both of my interviewers knew doctor I work for. Nice facilities. 0 stress.
First post-interview rejection. I\'m kind of disappointed because I thought my interviews went fairly well, but I\'m more than content with the outcome of the application process so far. Still have to hear from Harvard, Yale, and Columbia. No expectations here!
The campus is pretty old with the exception of a newly renovated learning center. The students seem happy. The curriculum is brand spanking new. Interviewer was a bit rapid fire with the questions. Not very conversational. Think I did well. We\'ll see.
Interview day wasn\'t very informative. Tour was scheduled at same time as one of my interviews. Beautiful campus and facilities.
Rejected. Can\'t say that this came unexpectedly. Kind of glad I didn\'t get in. Now I can focus all my effort on trying to get off of the waitlist at Yale!
Beautiful campus and facilities. Director of Admissions knows everyone\'s file. I feel good about my interview. No matter what the outcome, I\'m grateful to have gotten this far.
Wait list is better than rejection! This gives me something to work with and preserves my self-esteem!
Really nice study space, but on probation by accreditation committee. Facilities are okay. Hospital is nice. Really laid-back (completely blind) interviews.
Didn\'t even let me pick my own interview date, but I\'m not complaining!
Pretty laid back interview, not very engaging. Lasted ~40 minutes. Don\'t stress too hard over!
My first acceptance, I\'m gonna be a doctor!
Wasn\'t really impressed by the school, although I can definitely see the value of medical training in East Flatbush--you\'d see anything and everything. I just don\'t think the school is right for me.
Very long interview day, but very efficient process. Brand new facilities (except anatomy lab), 2 interviews. Both were conversational and challenging (needed knowledge of healthcare reform). Very pretty, but pricey school! Accepted! Dean of Med School left me a very nice voicemail notifying me of acceptance :)
Summary of Experience:
SR: 7/8, SS: 8/4, II: 9/28, I: 11/20, A: 1/11 Dean WItzburg is really chill. Really impressed by school and program. Students are cool. Only one interview (1 hour long).
Finally got an interview! :) I\'ve been interning here since I was 15. Interview went well. Facilities are somewhat impressive. Should hear back in a month. Fingers crossed! Accepted :)
Summary of Experience:
SR: 7/30, SS: 8/27, II: 9/14, I: 11/19, A: 12/18; Secondary was time consuming (but worth it!). Really nice faculty and really happy students. Providence is nice! Ahhh, I loved this school!! SO excited to get in. Whoa, just received $100 K merit scholarship. CRAZY!
Summary of Experience:
SR: 8/4, SS: 10/27, II: 11/23, I: 1/13, A: 2/10 SUCH A LONG SECONDARY, but they gave me a fee waiver. Fee waiver takes a week to go through!
Beautiful facilities. Students are cool/happy. Very pleasant interview experience (panel included).
