-Struggled with college first few semesters, straight A\'s last two years

I know my stats are below average and you might think that I have it easier because of my URM status, but I\'d like to stress that there are other factors in my application you should consider. I grew up in an inner-city, and had to attend magnet schools through out New York from ages 10-17 (most people don\'t have a 2-hour round trip commute to middle school or high school). I also worked 2 jobs throughout college in addition to commuting from home (family couldn\'t afford for me to stay on campus and I had to take care of younger siblings). I struggled with university my first three semesters. It wasn\'t until my junior year that my GPA was consistently above a 3.7.

I also have diverse experience in research and very early exposure to medicine. My MCAT score may be lacking in the biological sciences (which was a surprise to me as well), but I think my grades in biochem and molecular bio helped me out some. I don\'t think my writing sample score is representative of my writing ability. I was also meticulous about who I got my letters of recommendation from.

All in all, I think I did the best job that I could. I am very pleased with the interviews I\'ve been getting and am confident they are well-deserved.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any commentary or questions.
