Taking that cross country road trip put me a little farther behind than I had hoped. I considered hiding this, but I don\'t mind breaking the veil of secrecy surrounding the medical school application process. Conversations can become so incredibly awkward. Good luck to the rest of the Lafayette applicants, hopefully we\'ll all have something to celebrate in the spring.
Well, the process is almost over. Here\'s what I\'ve learned: Submit early. I seriously feel that I sabotaged my application by submitting my AMCAS in mid-July. The medical school you go to is much less important professionally than where you do your residency. You can get into any residency from any program if you do well enough in medical school, so don\'t discount the debt factor.
I stopped begging Columbia to let me in after a month and a half. I wasn\'t completely convinced that they deserved such groveling. In any event, I\'m at NJMS and I think it will work out well. My final advice: don\'t stress over which school you go to. Just do your best and nail the residency of your dreams. We\'ll see how that works out for me in a few years. Good luck to all the future applicants, it\'s a nasty process
Summary of Experience:
Very surprising, students seem happy, program sounds ideal. St. Louis is nice too. Not too disappointed about the rejection though, accepting people like me would have brought down their statistics.
Summary of Experience:
Great clinical opportunities. Close to my favorite bagel place. Friendly students and professors. Tour was impressive. Will certainly save a lot of money.
