    Summary of Application Experience

    03/28/09:
Took the MCAT. PS was the hardest thing I've ever seen. It was so long that I had to guess on probably the last 3 passages. Ridiculous to say the least.

BS was really hard too. A lot of genetics and molecular. There was this one passage regarding phage lytic/lysogenic cycle that was really long and complicated.

VR was actually ok. The passages were long, but everything seemed to be pretty straight-forward.
    WS as usual was easy.

I'll see how my scores turn out and see if I want to re-take.

Got my scores back today after THE LONGEST MONTH OF MY LIFE. Came back as above. I was incredibly pleased as I thought I did horribly. I was prepared for a 23 or lower. As I thought, my best section was verbal reasoning. I did much better in PS and BS than I had originally guessed. My writing was lower than I expected. However, I don't think that will be the tipping point for getting into med school. I have already released my scores to TMDSAS and now I am waiting for the 18th of May to begin the various applications.

Upon consideration of advice from many peers and advisors, I have expanded my list of M.D. schools and have added one(in-state) D.O. school. My heart is, as of this moment, still set on an M.D. school. However I am keeping my mind, as well as my options, open. It makes more sense to apply to a couple of D.O. schools this cycle instead of waiting until next year.

AMCAS Submitted. Had a problem obtaining a couple of LOR's because two of the professors I asked disappeared at the end of the semester. I found new ones to write good letters for me and they submitted them ASAP.

    07/15/09
Submitted TMDSAS after they finally received my other LOR. I hope to hear something from AMCAS soon, though I know that I could take weeks. I haven't submitted my secondary to GWU yet because I don't have the funds available, but it will be done soon.

    07/29/09
AMCAS has verified my application. There were no issues. Some schools have already confirmed that they have received my application. I hope to get a couple of secondaries soon. I still have not sent out the GWU secondary as it made little sense to do so when my AMCAS application hadn't been verified yet. I should probably get on that. Hoping to have the TMDSAS application verified soon. As far as Texas schools go, I've submitted my secondary to Texas Tech, but A&M and UTSW aren't complete. I haven't started on UNT yet.

    08/17/09
Got confirmation that my Texas application was verified; it took >4 weeks. It was not cool. Hopefully I will get a few interview invites. Just starting to work on my secondary applications for OOS, funding was an issue. It's going to cost more than $500 for just the secondaries, so I may drop a few...

    Amount Spent:
    AMCAS: $377
    TMDSAS:$145
    TA&M Secondary: $50
    TTech Secondary: $50
