Summary of Application Experience
Running cost total: $~3000 so far
4/26/09: Back from Spring Training ('Second Look'?) in Lubbock (Texas Tech HSC SOM). Had a great time!
2/13/09: Surpassed 10 rejections (at which I was actually complete at with or without secondaries, Vanderbilt = meanie )! All before I get snowed on in Detroit... Funny thing about the 10th rejection, which was from Baylor: they called my house when I wasn't there because I had apparently neglected to provide them my zip code (on the secondary? My primary has it...) With no interview, it's nice to get advance of their mailed out rejection. :p ---
1/31/09: Matched into Texas Tech! Great school and great atmosphere when I went there to interview. Also got an email from UTSW saying 7 people matched there and that I've been waitlisted! Yay for more waiting.
--- 12/8/08: Got the call from UNTHSC-TCOM. Slightly less pressure now, though if I get multiple acceptances, gonna have some hard choices to make later on... but I'll burn those bridges when I come to them. ;)
---
I applied to many schools through AMCAS based on their stats and general info from the MSAR. I ended up not finishing the secondaries on a third or so of them, so the ones that I was feeling good (or not lazy) about are the ones that show up here. Still only one interview out of the thirteen OOS or so... but whatever happens, I'm still happy I have a great school to attend here in Texas. If there is one piece of advice that I would share to future applicants (or my past self) who want to maximize their number of interviews, it would definitely have to be *apply early*! The given is that all the other preparation and activities that you will be putting on the application is the best that you can make it.
