-volunteer EMT (50+ hours/month for 1 year) -member of a technical rescue team -CPR instructor -100+ hours shadowing physicians -hospital volunteering (4 hours/week for 2 years) in Radiology and Orthopedics -research assistant in a Malaria research lab (full time for 3.5 months) -Public Service Scholar (>400 hours community service) -UNC dance marathon volunteer and committee chair -intern and later coordinator for a Native American health inequalities organization -community outreach board member for local student-run free health clinic (2 years) -elementary school afterschool weekly tutor (1 year) -medical volunteer in Zambia -medical volunteer in Belarus -study abroad in Turkey
I'm not applying until next year, but I would really appreciate some feedback before then. I feel like the schools I'm looking to apply to are pretty broad, so hopefully something works out. I know my GPA is sad, but I'm seriously considering applying for an SMP to help incase nothing works out this cycle.
I'm graduating in May and planning on working as a medical assistant full time in the urgent care center I've done a lot of shadowing at. I'm also planning on continuing my work with EMS and the technical rescue team on my off year.
I'm taking the MCAT next semester, so wish me luck!
