10/14/08: Met with premed advisor to update committee letter
11/04/08: Have submitted UNC, Harvard, WashU, Rochester, UMass, Pitt, UPenn secondaries
11/04/08: Letters finally uploaded to VirtualEvals
11/08/08: Received supplemental from IU, which means I will probably get an interview invite. There are so many extra forms that they require! Hope to get them all sent out this week, and keeping fingers crossed for an official interview invite! Also submitted VCU, Wake, and Case secondaries
11/09/08: Decided not to fill out Standford's secondary, because they ask for letters from supervisors of all your significant activities. If you do not have one then it will look suspicious. That is simply ridiculous! Oh well, it was a big reach anyway...
11/09/08: Overnighted application fee for Wake Forest and UMDNJ-RWJ
11/10/08: Rejected from Pittsburgh MSTP program :-(...I saw this coming, since my letters were not uploaded by the deadline
11/11/08: FIRST INTERVIEW INVITE FROM UMDNJ-RWJ!!! This makes up for the sad day yesterday...and what a quick turnaround, too! They just marked me as complete just yesterday and I got an invite less than 24 hours later.
11/15/08: Finished Yale's secondary. Withdrew from Columbia and MCG, because I could not meet LOR requirements for those schools. Columbia required 3 MD/PhD specific letters (I only have two). MCG requires committee letter + 2 additional letters + 2 MD/PhD letters.
11/17/08: Withdrew from PSU, because I didn't meet course prerequisites :-(. I really liked them, too. Dang, I have had to eliminate four schools from my list for not meeting certain requirements. I'm starting to get a little worried.
12/01/08: First legit rejection: University of Rochester MSTP :-( ....today is a sad day....I didn't think rochester was THAT competitive...I am concerned about my chances at other schools now.
12/03/08: VCU INTERVIEW INVITE!!
12/04/08: UNC MSTP rejection :-(....at this rate, I won't be getting interviews from any of the MSTP programs that I applied to.
12/08/08: UMINNESOTA INTERVIEW INVITE!!
12/11/08: UMASS INTERVIEW INVITE!!
12/11/08: Pre-interview hold at UPenn...essentially a rejection.
12/12/08: INDIANA INTERVIEW INVITE!!! Wow, what a great week!
12/15/08: UCSF rejection...I saw this coming.
12/18/08: I found out today that my year of math fulfills the math requirement at PSU, so I was able to submit their secondary today!
12/30/08: Couldn't finish Stony Brook's secondary by the deadline..
12/31/08: WashU MSTP rejection
01/02/09: Withdrew from UVA...I can't do my PhD in chemistry...
01/02/09: Withdrew from UWash...I didn't realize that you needed to fill out both the secondaries by the deadline...besides I didn't want to write another why md/phd essay for their secondary...
01/03/09: At this point I am essentially finished with secondaries and ready to embark on the interview trail...I just pray that I get in somewhere! I am grateful for the number of interview invites that I have received so far, and I hope there are more to come.
