Thought I should mention that my GPA is a bit misleading. The desire to become an MD did not strike until well into my Sophomore year of college. My GPA average was in the lower two point range during that time with a couple of failing grades. Once the desire struck, I switched schools and majors and luckily averaged a 3.55 science and a 3.4 non-science over 100 hours. This should show those wanting to apply that our good friends on the admissions board do indeed pay real close attention to trends. However, at most schools, an application won't even be reviewed unless it passes whatever criteria is set forth by the board. I was fortunate, in that being a resident of the state, my application was automaticaly reviewed and an interview granted. I write this to A: dispel any thoughts that a below average academic performance will cut it and B: to give some hope to those who feel that they have dug themselves into too deep of a hole. It is never too late to chase a dream. Good luck to you all!!!!!
