This is my second time applying to American and Canadian medical schools, and I got rejected by the following last year:
1)Case Western Reserve 2)Chicago-Pritzker 3)University of Pennsylvania 4)Rosalind Franklin University 5)University of Virginia 6)Jefferson 7)Penn State 8)University of Vermont 9)Tufts University 10)Albany Medical College 11)Brown 12)Wake Forest 13)Northwestern Feinberg 14)Dartmouth 15)University of Toronto 16)University of Ottawa 17)University of Western Ontario 18)McMaster University 19)Queen's University 20)Dalhousie University
DO NOT apply to these medical schools if you're a Canadian, it's a waste of time:
1)University of Pennsylvania 2)Brown 3)Chicago-Pritzker 4)Indiana
They say that they accept Canadians, but if you look at MSAR and you'll notice that their track record wasn't very good.

10/26/08: I decided to make a profile here after having some sort of relief in the process! It has been a very stressful ride for me and will continue to be so until this process is finally over in next year. None of the events leading up so far has been good, save the three interviews that changed my course in life and of course MY FIRST ACCEPTANCE ON 10/22! The fact still doesn't sink in that I AM GOING TO BECOME A DOCTOR!
10/29: Application complete at Dalhousie, waiting for review.
10/30: Waitlisted at SLU =/. I decided to decline the RFU interview invite today, after asking many people about Wayne State and RFU. If I will go to the States to study, I have made up my mind that I would prefer to go to Wayne State.
11/6: Pre-interview hold at Albany...meh. Also, complete at Manitoba.
11/25: Rejected by Calgary, not surprised.
1/12/09: Rejection from Manitoba. Wow, two months no news and the first news of the year is bad. -__-' Hope to find some good news in the coming three weeks.
1/13: Wow, next rejection......w00t...
1/16: cutoffs posted from Western, guess what..cutoffs not met. goodbye Western.
1/22: rejected by UVM.
1/26: Application completed for Alberta.
1/28: rejected by MSUCHM.
1/29: bad news in a row (which is expected anyway). Interview invite not received from McMaster == wait for rejection letter. (rejection letter actually mailed out on the 23rd)
1/30: Email confirmation - Rejection from Western Ontario. I don't know what's going on with Queens, apparently they sent out interview invites, but it seems like they sent them out to a subgroup of people (e.g. Grads, OOP etc) and I have no idea what it is yet. Will figure out shortly.
2/2: Rejected by Ottawa. Interview invite to Queens!
2/4: Cutoffs just released from Saskatchewan. The cutoff average is 92.4%! Getting into medical school these days...sigh...it's like winning a vigorous competition. I got shafted with a 89.5%, oh well.
btw, cutoffs figured out for Queens MCAT: 9/10/9/Q total 31 and GPA: 3.75 for this cycle.
2/13: Omg, interview from Dalhousie o.O I can't believe how surprised and happy I am. It's funny to say that an out-of-province school is now my best bet. Chances (purely based on stats) of me getting into Dalhousie (1/6) are more than those of me getting into Queens (~1/8). I THANK YOU O LORD
2/20: Last batch of interview invites sent out from UofA, I didn't get anything...so fat chance afterwards
2/28: Queen's interview. Meh, been there done that.
3/5: UofT rejection. I think the applicant pool this year is pretty tough, I would've expected an interview if I applied last year.
3/20: Rejection from Memorial, it's about time!
4/16: Alberta rejection. They have a nice summary breakdown of the interviewed average and my score. The cGPA avg is 3.96! Wtf! Although they have their own way of weighing GPA (mine is 3.93), can't beat that, can't beat that....
4/18: Dalhousie interview. The MMI was quite an experience. I screwed up the first two stations (partly because it was weird..) but I got the hang of it afterwards and believe I performed better than the average applicant. However, you never know things about the MMI and my confidence right now is inversely proportional with time. Results come out on May 15th, we'll see.
4/27: Albany rejection. Still waiting for the NYMC rejection.
5/15: The BIG day. Waitlisted at Queen's, which was 90% expected. My interview wasn't great but wasn't poor enough to be flat out rejected. Hope I do get off the waitlist! Still waiting to hear back from Dal. *fingers crossed*
5/16: FINALLY rejected by NYMC. THANK YOU for ending my pain of waiting..
5/19: F**k, rejection from Dalhousie. I did not expect that. It was sorta my ace card. Good bye Canadian schools, it was nice meeting you. As I don't think I'll get off Queens' waitlist, I'll most likely be heading to Wayne State.
7/6: Just got the Email from Queen's. Seems like the class is full, so no use waiting anymore :(. Oh well, it was a humbling year for me, and I consider myself really lucky already to be accepted to an American school. Looking forward to 4 years @ Wayne State!
