Summary of Application Experience
Do your research! Go to the school's website and poke around, try and find out all you can. I have the MSAR and although helpful, they neglect to mention things like school X (who happens to take 10% of their class from out of state) will not accept less than a 30 MCAT score from out of state applicants, even though their average MCAT score is a 28...things like that.
Start early, you should have a rough idea of where your score will be, build your AMCAS app on that number, then when you get the good news that you did better than you thought, it is easy to send your application to additional schools. Just make sure you won't be immediately shot down and paid $30 for them to tell what you could have found out on your own through a little research...make a phone call if you have to.
