Summary of Application Experience
9/23/08 Well, of course this experience has been pretty stressfull, but I am pressing forward and getting ready for this Morehouse interview by reading some books, practicing my interview skills, working, and surfing the net for relaxation every once in a while ;) Will keep you updated!
10/13/08 Just got my phone call from Mary at Mercer...2nd interview in place! Right now, I have about 8 pages of interview questions and sample answers that I would give for each question. I am not trying to have them rehearsed but rather familiarized so that I may be better prepared for the interview. Let's see how this goes....!
Just got a secondary from Medical University of South Carolina! There are no essay or short answer questions, so I can finish this today.
10/29/08 So I just finished my interviews at Morehouse and Mercer. They seemed to have gone well. My first interview at Morehouse was nerve racking. But what can you expect, this interview determines my future! But the ones at Mercer were a bit more laid back. Nevertheless, I hope to hear from them both within the next month or so.
11/24/08 I haven't heard anything in a while...the silence is killing me! I read on studentdoctor.net that Morehouse will send out its first round of post-interview notifications December 5th. I pray to God that I am in the acceptance batch, either there or Mercer. I'd prefer Morehouse but I cannot be picky! Will be cooking my first turkey this Thanksgiving so wish me luck. Happy Holidays!
12/10/08 Update: Got an interview invite from MCG, letter in the mail from Morehouse stating that I am on the alternate list, and am still waiting to hear from a couple of other schools. Lord I hope this is a test of faith. If so, I will pass. I want this so bad! My friend suggested that I work on my interview skills more. I agree. Time to get ready for MCG!
2/21/09 Still waiting on a word of acceptance from Morehouse, Mercer and now MCG. Howard and USC are the only schools that has not notified me of a decision to move on with the interview cycle. I am not surprised. Howard continues to live in the rock ages by using paper applications. And USC gives preference to SC residents or those with substantial relations tied to the state. I pray that I will hear something by April 1st. But, I have read that a lot of movement occurs during the summer. We will see...
3/24/09 Thank you Lord! I just opened my acceptance letter to MCG today! God does things in mysterious ways. I say that because it just so happened that my bags were packed and sitting in my car as I was getting ready to head to South Carolina for my interview at USC tomorrow. I will definitely be part of the MCG class of 2013 this fall! But, I still would like to see if I get accepted to Morehouse, since Atlanta has become my second home....
4/26/09 I put things in HIS hands, and he has gotten me to this point. I applied to 7 schools, interviewed at 3 and got accepted to 2. I had my heart set on Morehouse, but they responded wayyyyy to late. They start classes the 1st of June! I am officially going to MCG. The Lord sent that acceptance way back in March for a reason.
