Apply early and make sure there is something in your personal statement that will make you stand out to an admissions committee...it will be brought up in an interview. Everyone applying otherwise is strong on paper. If you're being interviewed, you are qualified, you just have to sell yourself. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. My story should be a strong deterrent...an MD/PhD acceptance and two MD/PhD waitlistings with no acceptances to MD onlys and only one acceptance overall...
