Summary of Application Experience
5/31/2008-Took the MCAT 7/1/2008-Recieved MCAT scores (30-O). I thought I did terrible so I'm somewhat pleased. I still think I could have done better: the Bio score is ugly. I won't re-take! (I figure my GPA is strong enough to compensate...) 7/2/2008-Submitted AMCAS. I waited until I got my MCAT scores. 7/7/2008-Still waiting for it to be Verified... Also, the pre-health committee at my school seems to do things slowly. They won't send the committee letter to schools until the third week of August! 7/23/2008-AMCAS VERIFIED! Bring on the secondaries! 8/7/2008- Kind of swamped with secondaries. I think I am writing quality essays and making good progress. 8/13/2008- VirtualEvals has recieved my Letters of Recommendation! I got an e-mail saying that they sent it to 13 schools so far (including the ones using the AMCAS Letter Service). 8/14/2008- AMCAS receives my Letters of Recommendation for the schools using their service! The process is moving along! 8/26/2008- VirtualEvals has now sent my Letters of Recommendation to every school that gave me a secondary. I just need to finish the last three (LUC-SSOM, MSU, Temple). 9/05/2008- What happened to me this week clearly illustrates how much of a crap shoot the application process is: I get an interview invite to Georgetown and a rejection letter (well, technically a waitlist type letter--essentially a rejection) from Southern Illinois! How strange is that? I would consider Georgetown a much better school so at least its not the other way around. 11/21/08- JUST GOT THE ACCEPTANCE LETTER FROM GEORGETOWN!!!!!! I'M GONNA BE A DOCTOR!!!!! 11/25/08- I CALLED CREIGHTON ADMISSIONS AND THEY SAID I WAS ACCEPTED!!! 12/5/08- MY FIRST CHICAGO ACCEPTANCE!!! RUSH! That took longer than expected. 12/10/08- I really feel like I've just started this process yet I'm already in a position to withdraw from schools. It's a very cool feeling. Creighton is a very nice school, but Omaha is not for me. 1/1/09- It's a new year and I feel great! 3/26/09- I really had no interest in going to St. Louis or Wright Univ. I should have withdrawn already but too apathetic to do so. As a matter of fact, I need to withdraw from every school other than Rush, Georgetown, UIC, and Loyola. Those are the only schools I'd still consider (but Loyola is a long shot now). So really just Rush, G'Town and UIC (assuming I'll be accepted to UIC). And UIC only because it is my state school...cheaper tuition. 4/20/09- I got into UIC but I withdrew and now it's down to Georgetown and Rush. I'm leaning towards Rush because it's closer to home and I feel comfortable there. 5/13/09- It's all over! Almost a year following this thing on this and other sites. I'm going to RUSH! I can't wait to start!
