Summary of Application Experience
I am going to be a DOCTOR !!!! FSU College of Medicine was my destination all along beside USF which was my undergrad school, FSU was on the top of my list. I had to defer to 2010 due to a medical situation right now, but I very happy that I am going to Medical school.
Let me mention a couple of things about my application:: I wanted to apply to alot of schools but once I got my MCAT back in August 2008 I was limited to mostly instate MD school and DO school. So I didnt even bother sending in secondaries for alot of the school MD out of my state. It was a very sad moment opening up the score and seeing that you got the same score as last year ( I hope none of you ever experience that). With a 26, I was considered a long shot to all the MD schools in FL but I didn\'t give up hope. I also prepare my DO application as a backup plan since I wasnt going wait another year.
This message is for all you out there with BELOW a 30 MCAT score. You seen my profile, it\'s not impossible to go to MD school. You just have to work harder and show them that you should be there. I did just that by doing alot of volunteering, shadowing doctor after my application was in and then I updated the school throughout the application year about what I did. Keep contacting the school via emails, phone calls and your persistent will pay off.
I rocked my FSU interview in my crutches and a business suit. I used SDN interview feedback and mock interview to help me prepare. FSU was super relaxed environment. I was the last person to interview with FSU on their very last day of interviews. Thanks to being well prepare, I got accepted without being place on the waitlist, something I would never dream of happening. I am glad that FSU looks at the student as a whole person and not just how high their scores are. I hope you find a school like that.
And good luck on the application process.
