Brief Profile:
First major in Economics, minored in Religious Studies. I\'ve spent the last ten years convincing myself not to be a priest by working in Christian Ed and non-profits. Currently finishing up pre-reqs while working full-time and volunteering at our local hospital and shadowing whenever possible. Community Service: (Current and in the last five years) on the Vestry at church, brought and lead two ministries at church, Humane Society volunteer, tutor for Adult Literacy, spent a summer in Ireland as a conservation volunteer for the National Parks In undergrad I thought extracurriculars were far more important than academics, and my GPA shows it. Since then it\'s been all vowels except Organic.

Summary of Application Experience
starting late, but hoping diagnostics on MCAT are accurate and I'll do well enough to negate the late start. September 6, 2008: took the MCAT today and did miserably. Applying for 2010 now. October 8, 2008: got MCAT scores back and did better than I thought (yet still reflects that I didn't see about a third of the PS section and didn't study organic--and that I had to get up and have a conversation with the moderator during the WS). 10/22 Submitted AMCAS (can't hurt, right?) 10/27 E-mail from/to Marshall re: strong WV ties 10/29 AMCAS verified 11/21 Why oh why do people seem happy to do recommendations and take months to do them? 12/2 Still waiting on the non-science letter ...Grrr 12/12 STILL waiting...puts me out of the running for Rosalind Franklin, which I probably was anyway, interviewing at UT in January 12/18 Last letter finally in, submitted to all schools today 1/19 UT interview was lots of fun, interviewing at Marshall at the end of Feb. 1/31 Finally heard from ETSU, Interviewing there either next week or in March (!?), Happy surprise this past week from Toledo. Still waiting to hear from Memphis--got the e-mail from Ms. Harris last Thursday that they had mailed the letter. I guess the ice storms have made the mail take at least eight days to make the 200 miles. 2/4 Pleasant surprise in my mailbox today--still no word from Memphis, but had an interview invitation from WVU, even though my third letter hasn't made it there yet 2/19 Whirlwind trip to WV to interview at WVU yesterday--Ms. McCormick e-mailed Tuesday morning with an interview available for Wednesday--very excited since I couldn't make the day they had originally offered. 2/24 Loved Marshall!! The curriculum is completely integrated, not trapped in one building for four years, lots of service opportunities, neat facilities. But I didn't get to talk to any students... 3/5 Interview yesterday at ETSU. I don't even know what I think about the school because my second interviewer tainted the whole day. I don't mind tough, but he was just plain rude (apparently has this reputation, as my first interviewer warned me that he'd be 'different', then the Dean apologized to me and offered me a third interview. 3/13 EVMS: loved the school, hated navigating the Norfolk loops, bridges, tunnels, etc. 3/17 Really disappointed by the waitlist e-mail today from ETSU. I know I was ridiculously late in the season and they've already offered more than they can take, but still a damper on this otherwise gorgeous St. Patrick's Day. Did not get the call from Ms. Warren yesterday about Marshall, so I'm guessing I'm not on the first cut there--and last year there was no movement off of it. I suppose I should start on another personal statement, finding a job, studying for the MCAT again. 3/24 E-mail from Ms. Harris at Memphis yesterday saying final decisions (moving from on-hold to actual rejection or waitlist) will be made this Friday 4/21 The most wonderful call this morning from (nicest man on the planet) Dean Strother. I'm going to be a Doctor and go to my first choice school!!!!!!! The joy is indescribable! 6/1 Certified letter of acceptance from ETSU. I thought I was sure of Memphis...but then I went back there for the housing weekend. Now that I have options, I get to stress again. 6/13 I'm going to UT. I just can't stand the thought of putting up with my interviewer from ETSU on a daily basis.
