  • Application cycles: 2007
  • Demographics: Female, Caucasian
  • Home state: New Jersey
  • Brief Profile: I'm a bit of a non-traditional applicant, deciding to do medicine in my junior year. I shadowed a pediatrician for a summer, which as of know is the extent of my clinical experience. I was a very rewarding experience. I had a lot of patient interaction and learned a lot about my intended specialty.

I've been working for a year as a physical therapy aide. It's... ok.

My biggest accomplishment thus far is my senior thesis, which was in the most competitive and difficult research program through my university. It involved a fully funded trip to Kenya to research the practices of physicians.

I was on the executive board for the American Medical Students Association for my senior year (second semester). I've also worked with the New Jersey Women and AIDS Network in planning cirricula for HIV infected women (on disease management and deciphering of NJ AIDS legislation), Habitat for Humanities and in helping a first-grade teacher manage diverse student needs in an inner-city classroom. Each of these three volunteer experiences were done for a semester each, so I'm not entirely sure how much they count.

As far as other extracirriculars, I've been an active member of my school's intercollegiate debate team for all four years.

I've also worked 10-20 hrs a week each semester to help fund school.
