*Dance and running (10k and training for a marathon) as my 'fun' EC's

My prereq GPA is a 3.74, for what it's worth (I hear this is concentrated on at some schools).

My GPA is majorly lowered by my fall senior semester made up of 16 upper level sciences that I barely passed...I underwent emergency surgery and had various health problems, causing me to miss a ton of school, then a close family member passed away the Friday before finals. The only other grades I have on my transcript lower than a B came from courses taken while I was in high school...would take that back if I could, for sure!

My ethnicity is half and half...half Native American (Ojibwa) and half mixed caucasian. And yes, I checked both boxes on my primary!

I come from a documented underserved area, as well as qualifying as disadvantaged. I didn't check the box on the primary, but a few schools told me at the interview that they will consider me disadvantaged due to life circumstances (parents filed bankruptcy, first generation to ever attend college, come from a majorly impoverished area, etc).

Good luck to everyone looking through these profiles!

    GPA breakdown GPA (sGPA)
Freshman & HS courses: 3.23 (2.30) Courses taken in HS can hurt ya!
    Sophmore: 3.60 (3.58)
    Junior: 3.52 (3.45)
    Senior: 3.22 (3.02)
App Year: 3.94 (3.94) All 400+ level sciences

Some final details, since I've been asked: I'm a sort of unusual applicant. I was a nationally ranked high school athlete, featured on ESPN. That is the team I assisted coaching the first two years of college. I am as blue collar as it gets, and come from a pretty poor area (Flint, MI). I have held all sorts of jobs, from summer painter to working in a hot dog factory. My interviewers really seemed to love hearing about the hot dog factory, I was asked at every single interview! I was very clear about why I don't have research experience- did it for a semester at UMich, and quit because I detested it. I have no interest in any type of research, and blatantly said this in my secondaries and interviews. My PS was also a bit more unusual, and somewhat risky. In essence, I wrote about all my complaints with the career of being a physician, and how I won't make these same mistakes I have seen when it's me in the white coat. Some adcoms loved it, and some obviously hated it. Be honest in this process, as they are pretty good at deciding if you are going to fit in with their institution!

I have updated all the schools I'm still active at with all of my new grades and activities, so I'm updating the above profile to reflect this. It has been a long year, and as of the first of May, it's not quite over yet. Whew.

It was a crazy hard choice to withdraw from MSUCOM. I LOVED MSU as an undergrad, but my fiance officially found out today that he doesn't have a job in MI (out of 47 apps for a teaching position), so at least he can try another state to try and get us close to each other. This year has been super nerve wracking already, and I still don't know what's up! Aaaahhhhhhhhh!

As of June 10 ~930 am, I will be going to SUNY Buffalo!!! I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!! And it's pretty close to home, but far enough away to not be in the backyard! Barring a full ride somewhere, my season is now officially done!...later on that day: scratch that! Buffalo is giving me a 20k scholarship! Off to sign a lease this weekend! Yeah!
