Summary of Application Experience
Applied to 36 schools because I heard it was nearly impossible to get into US med schools as an international student. Submitted AMCAS early july, verified late july, complete at most places in september and october. It's been stressful (especially all those secondaries)--on my mind, body, and bank account. But overall, this is going much smoother than I ever expected, and I'm incredibly lucky (and grateful!) to have an acceptance this early in the process! Vanderbilt class of 2011!!
Interviewing has been really fun--you get to visit all these different places, meet new people, dress up, and take time away from work! It's like little vacations... and the interviews themselves have been quite enjoyable too! (especially at vanderbilt...my interviewer was AWESOME, and we talked for like 1.5 hours about very random but interesting stuff before he had to let me go because we had our info session/tour coming up)
