Summary of Application Experience
I only applied to 8 schools, and I picked them by location and reputation. I think if I were doing this over, I might have added Michigan, Baylor, and UPenn, to have a few more schools, despite their distance from the Northeast.
I think my grades and scores really helped me get interviews, and the weakest aspect of my application was the lack of a demonstrated commitment to medicine and the absence of volunteer work. I spent my time in college doing what I loved, not worrying about how I would look to med schools, and I would not change that if I could (although I might have tried to do some community service trips over winter breaks).
I am very fortunate to have been given a full scholarship to my favorite school out of the ones to which I was accepted.
