Summary of Application Experience

Maybe I should've applied earlier in the season, but everything still worked out. I've gone through both the med school application process and residency application process, and the main advice I have is: Don't take this process personally. It's very random. A lot of it depends on who picks up your application on a certain day and how much they vouch for you. Don't let early rejections discourage you. Beyond the initial screening of numbers and grades, your essays and interviews are critical. Be yourself, show them how much you care about people and this profession, and hopefully they will recognize it. If they don't, that's their loss, not yours.
