  • Application cycles: 2007
  • Demographics: Female, Caucasian
  • Home state: Oregon
  • Brief Profile: My GPA isn't amazing, but I brought it up from freshman year, getting mostly A/A- in upper level science courses. I completed a BA (anthropology), BS (biology), and MS (molecular & cell biology) in four years. Because I did a combined program, all my grad level courses are in with my undergrad GPA.

    ECs in college:
    * two or three concurrent part-time jobs to help put myself through school
    * multiple club & varsity sports
    * multiple club leadership positions
    * basic/bench research
    * clinical research & neonatal ICU intern
    * peer tutoring, bio/calc/physics/chem/GRE
    * multiple merit scholarships
    * multiple grants for projects and research
    * leadership awards

    Post-graduation:
    * basic/bench research in a different lab
    * state public health care policy reform
    * city sports team

    Overall, I feel like I've been hampered a bit by having to work so much to support myself and by deciding relatively late that I want to go to medical school. I think I'm missing some clinical background.
