Summary of Application Experience
Things I did right: Submitting my AMCAS application immediately, I think my solid MCAT score helped get some very early interviews at competitive schools. I probably aimed a little high - that letter Washington University sends out to folks who score well on the MCAT may have inflated my ego a little overmuch. Things I did wrong: It seems as though my lack of health-related activities - essentially only one year's worth - and prior 'academic inconsistency' handicapped me the most. I felt as though I had excellent visits to several schools that resulted in waiting lists, making me wonder if the cards were already a little stacked against me. I think my application looked better standing alone in readings for interview invitations, but then the glaring holes became more obvious in comparison to other applicants in committee meetings.
