I was a business major, had 1 year left to graduate early with it, but decided that it just wasn't for me. I worked full time throughout high school and college, sometimes working 2-3 jobs at the same time, I also attended college year round as a full time student. After graduating with my MS, I found a dream job with a trauma surgeon at UT Southwestern working in Critical Care research in the medical school. My boss is very supportive and allows me to attend some of the med school classes he teaches, even surgical gross anatomy for 4th year students! I have applied to med school twice before, in 2007 and 2009. My MCAT was really holding me back. My prior MCAT scores are 16, 19, 17. Yes, I know they are terrible... However I retook the test in January and received a 22, though I had a computer freeze and a considerable loss of time. After putting in a request to overturn my scores due to this, AAMC declined my request. I have documentation on that and will be sending it to the schools anyway. I was making an average of 28 on my practice tests, so I decided to retake in March 2010 and I got a 27!

I'm very lucky that I have had so many great unique experiences, and I feel this time I have an amazing shot at med school!
